They seem to work best if retrieved perpendicular to the sun. Jig color would depend on time of year and lake color. I think black works well in varying situations. #2 - Shad or fat Rapala - Perch colored for Walleye, shiny blue or silver for Lakers, and any color for Bass. 3-4 inches long, depending on your equipment. #3 - Jointed Rapala, any color, 3 inches in length, with the middle treble hook AND barbs removed for easier release in twilight. After sunset, along a shorelines with submerged trees, near deep water, when its dead calm, trolled reeaaallllyyyyy sloooolllyyyy. Big Northerns are so stupid. They especially love it when you stop for a minute or three to munch some gorp. They usually hit as soon as you start moving again. Normally I don't like catching Northerns unless they are really big. These usually are. They also seem to fight better. They like to take a few long runs. The kind where you just watch them peel out line. Be prepared to get splashed when you release them. Maybe their not that dumb after all.
