Portage Description:
The landing on Paulene lies behind a small island on the north corner of the west end of the lake. The trail is well used. It climbs about forty feet up a hill, descends through a deciduous forest into a creek bed, where it becomes very bouldery, and then swings west for about 50 meters along a muddy stream bottom to the landing on McIntyre. Travelers from McI to P sometimes have difficulty finding the landing; it is east of the north end of the large island that divides the north end of McI into two channels. It looks like a grassy bank in a very shallow bay, with a small stream flowing in. The stream is actually the portage trail.

Lake after portage: McIntyre
Known campsites: 5
Lake Description:

McIntyre is a fine hilly clear lake wihich affords a good north-south route into the heart of the Quetico, taken with Robinson-Tuck-Sarah, or Isabella-Side-Sarah. There is a large island at the north end of the main body of the lake with two or more superb large campsites, one on the southeast and one on the northwest corner. I have never fished this lake. Other campsitse are found at the south end. We have paddled through McIntyre eight times since 1982. Other routes to the north of the Paulette portage connect to Ted via Earl (also called Trouthook) to the west, and io Brent to the north.
