My friends and I have been going with my father to Quetico provincial/BWCA since we were teenagers decades ago. Some of the best memories of our lives have been made on these trips. The last trip was a few years ago. In the planning and anticipation I happened upon This site. Since we are making yet another trip to BWCA in a few days. I wanted to stop by to say hello and hear the loons. Best wishes QuietJourney.com -Aaron

Visiting the BWCA is "like coming home." I go annually and it is truly the awesome. I have been reading a few posts of people who want to go to the BWCA but say they can't. Here is the truth- every time I go with a group of friends usually 4-6, we all have to make sacrifices at home and work to make the trip possible. It is deceiving to tell yourself you don't have time. Family, work and everything else isn't going to stop. So just do it. The BWCA is a masterpiece!

I spent about 4 weeks (over 4 summers) in the BWCA. I want to go back when I am an adult and with a camera too. I have soo many memories of fishing, encounters with moose, waking up to loons at 5 in the morning and the scenery. Still dreaming!

For several years now, I've been part of a group that base camps on Birch during the 2nd week of June. We fish mostly for small mouth bass. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the BWCA/Quietco in the future.

My family and I fell in love with the idea of someday visiting the Boundary Waters after reading the Sam Campbell books to my children. They are now all grown, but all of us dreamed of one day going there. My husband and I are planning our first trip this summer to the Boundary Waters, and wish for any advice that may be offered. It has been our experience when we first visit a place, such as the boundaries, or Yosemite, etc.. it can be overwhelming and we don't know where to start. We will be looking for day trips mostly, but we are prepared for overnight ones with the proper equipment and we have our own Kayaks. We will probably be there for about 6 days. We are going home through the U.P. of Michigan, another 5 days. My husband likes to fish and see wildlife, and I love scenery and wildlife. Thank you for any advice you may have.

great site to have run across! i spent two months out of the year every year between 1977 and 1987 at camp easton for boys near ely. those months over those years proved to be the most influential in shaping my life as far as appreciating nature and freedom and camaraderie in the bwca. now i am looking to come back after 20+ years to go on a solo trip somewhere up there. thanks to everyone for helping to rekindle these memories!

A Google search for Camp Easton for Boys turned up a post your site. The camp, as you may know, “was” (sadly no longer “is”) located just north of Ely, MN on Little Long Lake. The four summers I spent there are irreplaceable. Of all of my experiences since then, ’80 – ’84, the pages within your site conjure the rich nostalgia of a time I remember and cherish so fondly. The sessions lasted only one month per summer for a total of just four months but my memories seem to fill a lifetime. Of that time, the canoe trips were the pinnacle. It is wonderful to find so many that feel the same as I do about the Quetico and the BWCA. Great Site! If anyone has stories or info regarding Camp Easton feel free to contact me. All the best and warmest regards, Chris Mason.

Isn't canoeing the BEST! I would love to visit this lake, the pics are great. I f I knew how to hunt, sterilize water and was more then a 50/50 fisherwoman, I would live in the woods FOREVER. Yep, there's Melly the hermit and her old faithful canoe!

Planning on going in 2009. Should we go in May or in September? Would May be better for less bugs? September we could see the leaves changing. Any comments or advice?

Can anyone recommend a good outfitter near or in Grand Marais. We are planning a short summer trip where we will put in at Bearskin Lake and canoe Daniels, Rove, Mountain, and Clearwater. I am looking for a reasonably priced outfitter with aluminum canoes who drops off the canoe at the entry point and picks up the canoe at the end of the trip.

This is a great site. Had serious cabin fever tonight and just wanted to look at pictures of other people's canoe/kayak trips. I'm semi-patiently waiting for the ice to break so the kayak can come out and play again. Bookmarked this website for future reference!
