last Year (2006) at the urging of my brother-in-law who has visited
many times. We spent eight days canoeing and fishing in June. I
had a great time, though a novice when it came to canoeing, I am
comming back in June again this year (hopefully). I have visited
Canada many times and have several friends from Alberta to Ontario.
I have hunted moose and fished for pike, walleye (pickerell) and
bass. We have great country where I live, but I feel Canada and
the Quetico area in paticular are more conscious of their stewardship
of wilderness areas. I love the tranquility of the area. We heard
and saw Loons, Bald Eagles, Moose, Black Bear, Otters, Woodpeckers,
rodents of every description. My hosts thought the fishing poor,
I loved it. We had plenty to eat and quality was very satisfying
over quantity. We paddled in for several miles and everyone we met
were congenial and the rangers very efficient. I appreciated the
fact they were patroling off the beaten path as well as the higher
use areas. Although I would have prefered to paddle less and fish
more, I am anxious to return. |

It
is so peaceful up there. I absolutely love it. I love to get away
from school, work, and other people if only for a week. If I could
I would move there. Everything about it is beautiful from the loons
to the night sky and the fog and glossy water on a nice cool morning.

It's
a wonderful site, full of a wealth of information for all who have
been or wish to come to the Quetico and or BWCA. 1957 was the first
year I came and have been returning off and on ever since. |

Quetico
is the love of my life. I go every July and I know I'm addicted.
I started going 7yrs ago with my highschool and now I take the students
through the park. It's and experience words cannot describe. I came

Saw
an adult bear swimming across Birch Lake at noon on August 22. We
were about 200 yards away. No bear problems at our camp site. Looking
forward to another trip in mid-September during peak fall colors.

came across your site while searching for BWCA images. Wow, what
an impressive site! We are going to Ely in October. We wanted to
visit some outfitters to get a good feel for canoeing in this area.
Your site answered many of my questions and concerns. I was very
excited about this wilderness area, but now I am a little scared,
especially after reading about the bears. I am having some second
thoughts, but at least I'm cautious. You don't make it sound all
positive and a good dose of reality is what two amateurs need to
hear. |

Well
