Portage Description:
This is a nice easy creek paddle and even with fairly low water levels we were able to paddle all but the last 100 meters or so where we had to drag the canoes. If you step carefully on the grass beside the creek most of the mud can be avoided. I didn't and ended up in mud up to my hips at the end.

Lake Description:
Burntside is a small quiet lake with a nice campsite on a point in the eastern bay and a few on the islands close to the portage in to Jean. In August '01 we had a great view of the northern lights here.
