Portage Description:
This was my second trip over this portage, the last was in 1990. I recalled it as a "level path thru the woods"--wrong!!! From Cutty lake the portage is on the right side of the bay, McKenzie map 1995. Not the left. The entire path is hard up and downs.. Over ridges and into "wet spots" as in muck up to the knee if you slip off the "logs". The path up the ridges was very steep red clay muck, which I recall as dry in the fall of 1990. The last part into Sark is a smooth rock sheet and the landing is good with few rocks and deep water.

Lake after portage: Sark
Known campsites: 3
Lake Description:

After the portage look for a tiny island in the bay before entering Sark. In 1990 this was burned over but has recovered somewhat. You can stop here to recover also. It has the remains of what must have been a fly-in fishermans camp with several large log seats.. Sark is a grade A Quetico lake with clear water and high cliffs.
