Portage Description:
I'm referring to the portage that leads into the Western most arm of Argo. (not to be confused with the other portage further east on Crooked lake into Argo.)

This portage starts out with a couple of mucky spots on the Crooked lake end. The Portage is mostly uphill to Argo and somewhat lengthy. Near the crest of the portage there is one rock climb of around 4 feet which is the only small challenge of the portage. The portage is relatively wide and frequently used as I'm guessing the Lac La Croix tribe use this portage to transport their big boats into Argo in years they have elected to do so. There is some evidence that this was done recently as we saw some large equipment drag scrapes along the rocks on this portage. The portage ends at with a sloping rock ledge leading down to the blue green waters of Argo lake.

Lake Description:

Argo is a gem of a lake. Clearest water you will find anywhere, with a magical blue green tint when the sun is shining.
