Portage Description:
The landing at the Chatterton Lake end can be a little tricky, and the currents around Split Rock Falls can be very strong and dangerous. When in doubt, take the high water landings, as the normal landings are right in the "draw" of Split Rock Falls!! Pay attention to where you are and don't make a mistake that could be fatal. Other than making sure to use the high water landing when appropriate, this trail is part of the historic Hunter's Island / fur trade route. It continues to see its share of traffic from canoeists in the park. An easy trail ( except for the obvious ). It'll put a little sweat on your brow.
