Sturgeon to Halliday

Quetico portage
Posted by: Jack
Season/Year: Summer 95
Water Level: average
Length: 780 meters
Rating: difficult
Additional Perspectives:

Portage Description:
The portage isn't particularly long. but the year we took it there were two big, deep mudholes (sink up to your crotch) that were pretty miserable. Then it climbs steeply and has a big steep slab rock that is hard to grip with wet, muddy boots. Overall, I'll plan routes to avoid this particular portage.

Lake after portage: Halliday
Known campsites: not sure
Lake Description:

The north bay of Sturgeon holds a lot of fish. We caught some 5# Largemouth (yes, I said Largemouth) Bass, Walleye and Northerns there. We didn't fish Halliday or camp there, just paddled through, so I don't know much about it.
